COVID-19 Community Conversation - Native Nutrition with Valerie Segrest

Kelli Begay (Kickapoo/Seminole/Muscogee Creek), Chief Strategy & Operations Officer of Native Americans in Philanthropy, hosted a COVID-19 Community Conversation about Native nutrition and food systems with Valerie Segrest (Muckleshoot) of the Native American Agriculture Fund. Valerie Segrest contributed to our report, “Indigenous Community Leadership in Response to COVID-19: A Call to Action for the Philanthropic Sector”, and highlighted how food systems were affected during the pandemic. While the pandemic laid bare the inequities in our communities, it also showcased the strength and resilience of our people as tribal communities organized to get resources to the ground with support from the philanthropic sector. This COVID-19 Community Conversation is for anyone interested in strengthening Indigenous and Native communities by understanding the opportunities for the philanthropic sector.
